Fantasy Figures International is celebrating its first year as the number one independent magazine for all aspects of Fantasy and Sci-Fi miniature painting and modelling. When we launched the magazine in the
autumn of 2019 we were acutely aware that although there was plenty of stuff online, there was very little available in print that catered for miniature painter and modellers in these genres. Given the huge amount of interest in Gunpla, Maschinen Krieger, and science fiction modelling more generally, not to mention the huge growth in popularity of both fantasy and science fiction miniature painting, we thought the time was right to offer modellers a regular high-quality print magazine that catered for these interests. A year or so, and seven issues, later we could have had no idea of the enthusiastic support the magazine would receive from hobbyists all across the world. A measure of that success is that five of our first six bi-monthly magazines have now completely sold out. With that in mind, and aware that new readers were discovering our magazine all
the time, we made the decision to gather together some of our favourite articles from the first year of the magazine in this special collectors' edition Yearbook. In it you'll find a good selection - we hope - of the
articles from the across the various genres and modelling styles that we have featured in the first six magazines. I know that many
of our readers missed these articles first time around so it's a great opportunity to get your hands on some classic articles from the likes of José Brito, José Luis Lopez Ruiz, Don Suratos, Roberto
del Cima and Alex Varela. For those readers who have been with us from the very beginning - thank you - we also have a brand new article from the master of Maschinen Krieger, Bryan Krueger.
The first year of Fantasy Figures International has been a real team effort and we'd like to thank all of our contributors and advertisers and especially you, our readers and subscribers, for making it all possible. We've got some big plans for the next year and remain entirely committed to bringing you the very best in Fantasy and Sci-Fi miniature painting and modelling for many years to come. So, please do enjoy this Yearbook and look out for issue 8 of Fantasy Figures International which is now available.

NATO Armour from the End of the Cold War to Today

The end of the Cold War and the collapse of the Soviet Union in 1991 should have signalled a lasting 'peace dividend' for the countries of NATO. Instead within a decade, the 'War on Terror' had refocused military spending away from conventional arms and the armour-heavy formations of the Cold War era. However, as the
level of NATO's commitment to the wars in Afghanistan and Iraq reduced, Russian aggression in the Crimea and Ukraine led to a renewed emphasis on peer-on-peer warfare and a revival of more traditional forms of armoured firepower. This book, the second in an exciting new series by Guideline License Publications and the team that brings you Military Modelcraft International, the UK's number 1 military modelling magazine, looks in
detail at the armoured fighting vehicles employed by NATO armies, their allies and partners, from the end of the Cold War to today. From the mighty Leopard 2 Main Battle Tank to the ex-Warsaw Pact vehicles now
employed by NATO's Eastern European allies and partners, each article provides a unique historical perspective, well illustrated by carefully selected photos, and with individual vehicles illustrated in colour profiles. On top of this superb reference material, a modelling gallery displays some of the most inspirational NATO armour models from the pages of Military Modelcraft International.

'Northern Powerhouse' is the first in our railway bookazine series and showcases the lineside photography of Ian Edmondson. Born and raised next to the old Lostock Hall shed, Ian's dedication to getting 'that one shot' has led him to travel the North of England seeking out locations that have enabled him to combine the best of the spectacular scenery of Yorkshire, Cumbria, and his native Lancashire, with the most interesting and unusual of the freight and passenger workings that thread through the area.
Often rising before dawn and driving for hours to stake out a single freight working, Ian's passion both for the trains and the landscape around them finds focus in this remarkable collection of images that showcase not only his commitment and passion, but also reassures us that the railway lines that called out to the likes of Ivo Peters and Eric Treacy are still there, and have plenty to offer if we only know when and where to look.
It is the author's hope that this collection - presenting images of contemporary workings in locations still current - will assist and inspire other enthusiasts to go out and find for themselves the best that Britain's railways still have to offer .

Atlantic Resolve is a response to Russia's actions in Ukraine, mainly the war in Donbass, and is funded under the European Reassurance Initiative. The US took several immediate steps to demonstrate solidarity with NATO, such as augmenting the air, ground and naval presence in the region, and enhancing previously scheduled exercises. The US is taking measures to improve NATO military plans and defence capabilities, and remains committed to maintaining a persistent presence in Central and Eastern Europe. This second Guideline in Action looks at the US Air Force's recent deployments in support of Atlantic Resolve, US Army aviation assets, and multinational training exercises, as well as the transport and logistics efforts behind the maintenance of the front line squadrons. 84 pages

Light and Medium bomber aircraft of World War 2

Fall of Iron is the first in a series of compendium volumes covering military aircraft with a focus on some of the less well-covered subjects. The series is designed to offer a brief one-stop historical reference combined with colour artwork and is aimed primarily scale modellers but offers plenty for the general aviation enthusiast too.
This first volume looks at some of the twin-engined medium bombers of World War Two and includes a selection of profiles written by Richard Mason, as well as a ground-breaking piece of research on the early B-25 Mitchell by Brian Derbyshire that offers an incisive look into the business of wartime mass-production and the vast number of changes to the ensuing airframes brought about as a result of ongoing combat experience. Other aircraft covered include the rarely discussed Tupolev SB-2, the Mitsubishi G4M Betty, Bristol Blenheim, Savoia-Marchetti SM.79, Petylyakov Pe-2 and the Handley Page Hampden.
Many of these aircraft have been overlooked as 'also-rans' by history and the scale modelling community but an examination of similar types designed for similar roles from various Axis and Allied air forces demonstrates just how much aircraft development kept pace during the conflict, and how despite their clear external differences aircraft designers all over the World were drawing the same conclusions as a result of experience gained in a shooting war.
Comprehensive enough to inform but concise enough to be useful, Fall of Iron presents a picture of Wartime bomber development that will help the reader understand the essential role these unsung machines played and the sometimes remarkable use that was made of them. This books is 92 pages

  £11.99
By MP Robinson, David Grunnitt, Leif Robinson
Armour in Profile: Armoured Fighting Vehicles of the United States Army, 1945-2018 contains profiles of five armoured fighting vehicles that have shaped the strategy and tactics of the United States Army since the end of World War II. From the battlefields of the Korean Peninsula and the jungles of Vietnam, to the plains of Central Europe and deserts of Iraq and Kuwait, these vehicles are iconic of American military might. Beginning with the M47 and M48 Patton tanks, replacements for the M4 Sherman, it goes on to examine the M60 tank and the mighty M1 Abrams Main Battle Tank, a vehicle that is expected to serve as the principal weapon of the U.S. Army for at least another two decades. As well as these main battle tanks, it profiles the 'King of Battle', the M109 self-propelled howitzer, another relic of the Cold War continuously updated to meet the challenges of warfare in the twenty-first century. Finally, the book looks at the 'REFORGER' exercises held in the 1970s and 80s, at the height of the Cold War, and which moved thousands of U.S personnel and vehicles to Germany on an annual basis.
